Two Avondale Athletes Set School Records

In a snow-shrouded week in the state of Michigan, Avondale High School athletic teams experienced cancellations, postponements, as well as history.  Senior varsity girls basketball player Raigan Lawrence scored her 1,000th career point on Wednesday vs Harper Woods.  A four-year starter, Raigan became only the third basketball player (boys or girls) in Avondale history to reach such a mark.  On Sunday, at the All Girl Regional Wrestling Tournament, freshman Tamari Khizanishvili finished third and became the first ever female wrestler from Avondale to qualify to compete in the state finals.  As for the other athletic team performances this week, Avondale compiled a record of four wins and eight losses.  The winter season is nearing an end, and it will be exciting to see just how Avondale athletic teams fare in their league, district, regional, and state tournaments.  Results for the week are as follows:
